so everyone knows, the addresses were extracted from the keyring.
they didn't ``spam'' *everyone* whose address they could get their hands on,
either. they sent the mail to people who have made contributions in the form
of source code and bug reports (they only mined their BTS, not ours :) spam
or not, imho, it's forgivable and kind.
