How did you install those packages ? By hand ? Or with apt ?

But it does exist in the postgresql package :
~@p200$ dpkg -S /etc/postgresql/postmaster.init
postgresql: /etc/postgresql/postmaster.init
Do you have /etc read-only mounted ?
