The world is not 100% Debian/Linux. Just curious: Are you saying MD5_CRYPT_ENAB is incompatable with NIS? In what way? Does NIS make assumptions of the size of the encrypted password? Can this be fixed? Or... are you refering to using the NIS database on other computers that do not support MD5_CRYPT_ENAB?
