New modutils is breaking things

Hi all,

I am not sure if this has been addressed or whether it is even a problem
with modutils but here goes. After installing modutils_2.3.5-1, I
experienced the problems below. I rebuilt the kernel (2.2.12) they still
happened. I then rebuilt modutils using the same gcc272 with which I built
the kernel and they still didn't go away.

continuum:~# depmod -a
continuum:~# modprobe snd-card-ens1370
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
continuum:~# modprobe sr_mod
/lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o: unresolved symbol cdrom_fops_Rfdf7314e
/lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o: unresolved symbol
unregister_cdrom_R8d8eb1ac
/lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o: unresolved symbol
register_cdrom_R1914a03b
/lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o
failed
/lib/modules/2.2.12/scsi/sr_mod.o: insmod sr_mod failed
continuum:~#

With the alsa load, it may degfault but it does still load and alsa is
usable. I cannot get sr_mod to load no matter what I do or what I rebuild
so I am thinking it's either modutils or something wrong with modules.conf.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Shane
