I never really understood why people diss on gnome so much.
Having suffered through the UI idiocy that is win95 for 2 years, I
finally got a new computer at work that can run debian, and now I use
gnome as my desktop. It may not be as well designed as the mac UI, but,
man, it *wipes* mswin all over the map; I can finally *control* what my
desktop does. I must say I'm really, really impressed.
[Of course, the new box is a 500mhz PIII, which may help alleviate any
slowness; I did hear that gnome was supposed to be slow...]
