On the similar note, I've also noticed that `adduser' ALWAYS "restarts" the `nscd', which I don't run. Even though I have removed the symlink to it from the runlevel directory, and it's not started during boot or runlevel change, when I run `adduser', it starts the `nscd'. I have not filed a bug yet.
