If what we're talking about is only translating app-defaults, I would surely
be interested in doing that for the packages I use, at least, and if
necessary (since there are no Debian maintainers here) coordinate a group of
non-maintainers to do that for others.

I'm in Brazil. Mostly, at least for software, most things must be translated
twice for Brazilian portuguese and "true" Portuguese.
