Package: nano
Version: 1.9.99pre3-1
Severity: serious
Justification: etch upgrade bug, RC on Andreas Barth's advice.

14:38 <svenl> mmm, sarge->etch upgrade make nano the default editor while i
had it set to vim previously, did you know about that ?
14:38 <aba> no, and please file an RC-bug about it to ..., hm, I don't know
where
14:38 <aba> (you can cite me with that, though, if you want)
14:38 <svenl> indeed, good question.
14:38 <aba> general?
14:38 <aba> nano?
14:39 <svenl> i don't think there is such a thing, is there a editor
metapackage ?
14:39 <svenl> let's file it as nano.

Detail:

i upgraded my powerbook from sarge to etch yesterday. Before i had vim as the
default editor, and after the upgrade, it seems nano seems to be the default
editor, and there is no obvious way for an end user to change that.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

There's now a new section that describes that nano is now the default editor
(in the default install) and how can be changed in case users/administrators want
to revert to the previous default:
http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/i386/release-notes/ch-information.en.html#s-nano

I'm now closing this bug (unless the submitter considers more doc is needed
here, if so, please reopen).

Javier
