Bug#193979: dpkg: /usr/sbin/dpkg-statoverride preventing start up of certain daemons

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.10.10
Severity: normal
Tags: sid

-------

- dpkg-statoverride --list /var/run/saslauthd
stripping trailing /
root sasl 710 /var/run/saslauthd

AND:

- invoke-rc.d saslauthd start
Starting SASL Authentication Daemon: stripping trailing /
saslauthd.

-------

all i get is stripping trailing / when a) there aren't any trailing /,
and b) it somehow prevents the daemon from starting up. i didn't get
this behaviour with 1.10.9. it's under severity: normal, but i think it
should be more severe.
