Yes.

The discover-pkginstall script in stable is broken, and do not work at
all.  But I want to give our users a way to easily build out-of-three
drivers, and the discover-pkginstall script is one way to do it.

I agree.  On the other hand, I am not sure if any of the debconf
translations are used at the moment.  As this was a clean backport, I
guess the nb.po file must have been removed from the upstream svn as
well.  No idea why.
