[Bug 1255] New: provide installer from windows

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1255

           Summary: provide installer from windows
           Product: Skolelinux
           Version: etch-release-3.0r0
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P4
         Component: Installation system
        AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
        ReportedBy: holger@layer-acht.org

Hi,

I've opened this bug to track how to implement this. Sounds quite easy :)

<h01ger> nyu, does the win32-loader also work with the etch debian-installer?
we'd like to use that for debian-edu but for (only) etch..

<nyu> h01ger: yep
<nyu> when in CD-based mode, it's mostly branch agnostic
<nyu> there might be some minor glitch, though. just give it a look. but
there's no big stopper

<h01ger> nyu, is there some doc how to enable it?
<nyu> h01ger: what do you mean?
<nyu> enable CD mode or...?
<h01ger> basically how to turn a etch installer cd/dvd into something which
will install debian when put into a windows harddrive :-)

<nyu> no docs, but it's simple
<nyu> you need setup.exe, win32-loader.ini and autorun.inf
<nyu> for setup.exe you just need to s/lenny/etch/g somewhere
<nyu> (in main.nsi)
<nyu> win32-loader.ini is generated by d-i build scripts (you can probably
backport the patch from svn without much hassle)
<nyu> I wonder if it would make sense to add a backported branch or something

<h01ger> nyu, so setup.exe, win32-loader.ini and autorun.inf are created when
you build the package? and then you copy them where? cd root directory?
