Committed a script to dynamically write the override file (svn r58359).
Still need to figure out how to invoke it automatically _after_ the certificate
is created - through cfengine.
One curious thing:
For testing I removed the old snakeoil certificate and created a new one by:
/usr/sbin/make-ssl-cert generate-default-snakeoil
After which www:631 (CUPS) offers a different certificate than www:443 and
backup:443.
