There’s a ‘secret’ URL you can use (if you’re the mailing list admin) to downlad an mbox of *all* the messages in the archive. Here’s the one I used for the old i18n-no list at lister.ping.uio.no:
https://lister.ping.uio.no/mailman/lister.ping.uio.no/private/i18n-no.mbox/i18n-no.mbox(The URL to the ‘front page’ of the mailing list was https://lister.ping.uio.no/pipermail/18n-no/.)
Do *not* download the individual monthly .tar.gz archives. They don’t contain the message headers and have character encoding problems and other problems. Only the mbox file above has the complete messages, as sent out by the mailing list.
The mbox may not be valid. This happens if a line in one of the message *bodies* starts with ‘From’ (without the quotes). This fix this, you can use the cleanarch binary from mailman. Here’s how I used to do it:
