I have 3 user-defined chains: LOG_AND_ACCEPT, LOG_AND_DROP and CHECK_FOR_ABUSE. Dave already gave you some information on the logging variety, so let me give you some info on the latter. The CHECK_FOR_ABUSE chain is updated frequently based on things hitting my server, so I do that with a separate script to both make it faster, less risky and easier to automate if that becomes necessary. /Allan
