I expect that this reply is going to cause significant backlash by some.
Yes I realize that uttering "Launchpad" is a *sin* according to some in the Debian world.

Note that I use Chirp on an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system and stay very up to date.

To that end I think 99.99999999% of your packaging work is already done for you.

I direct your attention to http://ppa.launchpad.net/dansmith/chirp-snapshots/ubuntu/pool/main/c/chirp-daily/ and the 'deb' files contained within.

After all we are a _Ham Radio Community_ and should be able to support each other no matter what the OS of choice is.

According to the control file the package is maintained by the Debian
