Thanks, I'll try that when I'm next in a position to repartition my disk
(must back up first!)  I suppose this could be related to the problem
I read about before, that partitions must be no longer than 1Gb, due
to mem-mapping being used for them.  Could it also be that the whole
partition must be within 1Gb of the start of the disk?  Or must the
start of the partition be within 1Gb?  It would be worth noting this
in the install docs.  If it's not yet known which of the above is true,
I'll try experimenting when I repartition.
