Some problems

I have some problems with Hurd.
First, I can't install a .deb from a CD. I need to copy it to my /root. The
error message is fdopen ... something like that.
I have installed the network, I can ping others hosts, but I don't have
route , where can I find netbase for Hurd ?
Second, I can't connect to a ProFTPD 1.2.0pre9 Server (ProFTPD), I have the
message "connected to 10.225.7.69" but nothing after.
I have installed telnetd-hurd and telnet-hurd. I can telnet myself but
nobody can telnet me.
And when I ping my Hurd box from a Linux one, I have this kind of thing:

PING 10.225.7.59 (10.225.7.59): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.225.7.59: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=3.9 ms
64 bytes from 10.225.7.59: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0.9 ms (DUP!)

I can't install emacs because I need sysVinit and I don't find the package.

I hope you can help me.
