Apparently the linux `mount' command ignores the partition type code.
(This is probably good, IMO.)  Your partition table indicates FAT16,
but the partition actually contains an ext2 filesystem.  You can
change the partition table in fdisk without deleting the partition or
losing its contents.  To change the filesystem, you would have to run
mke2fs or the DOS format command.
