SOS : "blocco" apt-get remove/install

Questa sera ho voluto provare ad installare webmin
( in realtà lo avevo già instalalto tempo fa ma lo avevo disinstallato quasi
subito..con il solito apt-get .. )
La cosa strana è che dopo averlo installato non partiva...
Dopo un po di prove mi sono accorto che non c'era il file di configurazione.
Pensando di aver fatto qualche errore ho combinato un casino peggiore :(
Ho provato + volte a reinstallare/disinstallare ma mi sono ritrovato in una
strada senza uscita:
se provo ad installare , dpkg mi da errore....stessa cosa se provo a
disinstallare.
Come posso fare a rimettere a posto le cose? C'è qualche modo per "ripulire"
il tutto?
