I tried linux-image-2.6.28-1-686_2.6.28-2~snapshot.12968_i386.deb and also linux-image-2.6.29-rc7-686_2.6.29~rc7-1~experimental.1~snapshot.13071_i386.deb. Both don't use the swap disk excessively. This bug seems to be fixed. Thanks, Jos v. Wolput
