Interesting. I would suggest testing a snapshot of the 2.6.31
rc's. They should install fine on lenny, see
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel.
If you are still able to reprodcue, your best bet is probably to file
a bug against the upstream kernel at:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org
