   * What led up to the situation?
Installed new kernel 4.0 in a Debian stretch/sid machine through apt.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Tried to restart the X server and booted previous kernel 3.16
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Restarting X server did not solved the problem. Flickering stops if mouse
pointer is hidden(??) Kernel 3.16 works properly.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
