Ok, so let's repurpose this bug report:
dracut should add support for updating the initrd via an explicit dpkg
trigger. Other packages can then request an initrd update via dpkg-triggers.


initramfs-tools has the same problem. Right now, individual packages
update the initramfs by calling "update-initramfs -u" in their
maintainer scipts.

I think it would be preferable, if initramfs-tools could be switched
over to use dpkg triggers as well, so CCing their maintainers.
