In particular, the i8k driver and associated utilities worked
admirably on my old Latitude C600.  (I had written a windowmaker
dockapp that displayed the CPU temperature and fan speed, but never
actually put the code on any reliable storage.  Oops.)  My impression
is that it would work on pretty much all Inspirons and Latitudes, but
that may be wrong (particularly if very new models are ACPI-only).
