Hmmm...ok, sorry. I guess I'm tending to blame the frontend for a
backend problem (partly because it's not something that has been noticed
in the absence of the frontend).

First I will have to recreate the conditions since after doing lb config
--purge the bug has gone away, but was reliably reproducible (in that
environment) before I did that (but was doing 'lb clean' each and every
time, especially since 'lb clean --binary' always fails to complete the
build for me, but that seems to be a known issue (if not to you, sorry
didn't keep links)).  It does explain why it is a hard to nab bug
though; apparently it is some annoying corner case that for obvious
reasons went unnoticed until now.

Sorry for being crusty.  I can only claim tiredness and frustration
(partly with the whole email going missing thing, since that probably
would have helped matters).
