In order to use dicom3tools when producing image, one has to register for a UID. I doubt debian or debian-med has a DICOM UID: http://www.dclunie.com/medical-image-faq/html/part8.html#UIDRegistration So I simply picked the easy option and register for a free UID from Dave Harvey DicomObjects project: http://www.medicalconnections.co.uk/DicomObjectsIntro.html I used the email of this ml to register the UID. -- Mathieu
