I actually found two Debian developers who have been very helpful and were willing to sponsor the package. Unfortunately we then discovered a copyright issue which makes it impossible to distribute GHDL in the Debian archive. I'm still making unofficial GHDL Debian packages available, but my efforts to get GHDL in the Debian archive are on hold. So I agree that this packages does not belong on mentors.debian.net right now. But I think the removal process could be more careful to avoid losing track of work that has already been done. Joris.
