It's a cleanup (it makes much more sense now) and the -mcpu option has
been deprecated since ages. I'm looking forward to fix this in the
kernel-patch-2.4.*-mips packages but it really doesn't make much sense
until 2.4.21 is out (and Ralf merged it into the linux-mips.org tree).
