I've attached an update from Ian message below he wanted to have forwarded to the list. It's a little late but I figured it would still be a good update. Regards, Mako -- Benjamin Mako Hill mako@debian.org http://mako.yukidoke.org/

Hey Here is Ian. I updated the list a while back with some of the ideas we had been chatting about the Debian-NP mini-conference in Brasil in June. It is now a lot less than a month to go ;) Lots of things have happened since this post [1] so I will make a summary?. Tactical Tech [2] well know for the *. source events will be in Brazil and are interested in coming to and possibly taking part in the NP meet. Their input on the tactical use of technology will be helpful. Privaterra [3], a Canadian human rights NGO want to become involved too. They work extensively in Latin America & the Caribbean and have introduced (virtually) many NGO?s to Debian-NP .I have made a page on the wiki [4] for this region with their links and some more info about them Great news is that Debian Amazonas [5] will make a ?caravana? for the event. We are also going to make a Kurumin [6] distribution for Debconf, containing basic information about Manaus, the Amazonas region, photos, information about the free software community, about Debian-AM and more. I have translated [7] the presentation to this distro if you will like an early look :).
