The arm/ia64 problems are probably:

The alpha bug was introduced by the fix for #335578 (see my comment in
http://caml.inria.fr/mantis/view.php?id=3912)
I don't have access to arm or ia64 hardware, and upstream doesn't either
("Access to IA64 and ARM plaforms is difficult." in bug 3077).
Can someone try to debug this, or ask on debian-arm and debian-ia64?
