Bug#659903: cannot sync with squeeze (expected "Unison 2.40\n" but received "Unison 2.32\n…")
Package: unison
Version: 2.40.63-2
Severity: serious
Hello,
thank you for packaging unison.
Since the new version of unison, I cannot sync with the version that is
found in squeeze systems:
$ unison marvin
Contacting server...
Fatal error: Received unexpected header from the server:
expected "Unison 2.40\n" but received "Unison 2.32\n\000\000\000\000",
which differs at "Unison 2.3".
…
I have tried all compatibility version provided, namely:
unison-2.27 unison-2.40 unison-latest-stable
unison-2.27.57 unison-2.40.63
but none of them is compatible with version 2.32.52-1 that is found in
squeeze.
I set the priority to 'serious' because it feels rather bad that testing
has a version of unison that can't speak to the one in stable, but I'm
happy to accept your judgement on the severity of this bug.
In the meantime, I completely lost rather important synchronization
procedures that I had set up between my main working testing/wheezy
system and various squeeze boxes that provide me secondary services, so
you can find me sitting in a corner crying sad tears until this can be
made to work again.
Ciao,
Enrico
