Thanks for the heads up. The script dh_octave_installdocs has been added to dh-octave.

That script has been changed into dh_octave_changelogs because it actually manipulates /usr/share/doc/$pkg/{NEWS,changelog.gz}.

I did some further tweaks and batch-tested dh-octave on the DOG packages. Packages octave-symbolic and octave-interval still need some care, but the others seem to work.

I will upload the package as it is now to unstable, as it can coexist with octave-pkg-dev. You can still continue improving it in Git.
