Hi Ron :-)  If noone else comes up with suggestions, I'll note that
the unstable tree has been "frozen" in preparation for final testing
and release, so you could be adventursome and do an upgrade.  Another
alternative is to grab the current unstable sources and build them
under stable -- get the .tar.gz, .diff.gz, .dsc files from
ftp.us.debian.org, then dpkg-source -x pilrc*dsc, cd to the unpacked
result and dpkg-buildpackage, and try installing the results...
