He can. Please have a look at our BTS. There are many bug reports
persistent for ages now, which could be fixed with very less work
(some only have to be recompiled), but they aren't fixed yet. So if a
change is trivial this doesn't always mean that it will be fixed soon.

Have a look at the BTS and you see, that also trivial changes
sometimes take time.

History shows us, that there are package maintainers, which aren't
able to quickly change and upload their packages like you do. I don't
like this and I personally try to fix problems as soon as possible,
but some maintainers seem to need much more time for their packages.
