Try contacting Linar Yusupov <linar@mcst.ru>, he built a X server ( VGA? ) on a
Thinkpad 850, it is PPC with S3 video chip and it is IBM, RS/6000, PReP, ...
maybe he did some of the work you are asking for.
If you manage to have it packaged inside debian, maybe I'll give it a try in a
far (sigh) future.
