Quik problems on a Wallstreet

I've finally decided to take the plunge and dump BootX in favor of
quik (MacOS 9 and BootX don't seem to play nice).  I'm having some
trouble getting it to actually take.  quik runs "normally" (if no
output is normal), but I still boot directly into MacOS.

I'm running a Wallstreet Powerbook G3 which uses a single internal IDE
drive.  My root Linux partition is on hda7.  There's just one drive,
so I didn't bother to set a root drive.  I've set up quik as follows:

init-message = "type 'linux' or 'macos'.\n"

partition = 1
timeout = 50
default = macos

image = /boot/vmlinux
	partition=7
	label = linux
	alias = l

# This calls the "bye" command in Open Firmware, booting Mac OS.

image = "$bye"
	label = macos
	alias = m


Should I be setting /dev/hda as the root partition?
