Rs6k 40P floppy inst

Hi all!
I'm trying to set up Debian on a Rs6k 40p (mod 7020) booting
through floppy disk.
With the latest images on http://www.debian.org/~porter/prepdl/
the resuts are these:
boot1440.bin - boots, but hangs at kernel load
resc1440.bin - boot, executes kernel, and kpanics trying
		to mount device 03:02, if I remember correctly.
		With root=/dev/fd0 it pauses and asks to insert
		root floppy: when I put
root1440.bin	in and I get

		VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
		current.files = 21c

And then hangs.

Am I missing something as usual? :)

thanks for your time,
