What about including it in os-prober?

That's on the right track, but not quite. os-prober is just a program that detects other OSes and reports where they are, it doesn't actually install any files AFAIK. What we could actually do is put a hook in debian-installer that runs os-prober and installs the script if it finds any OS X or OS 9 installations. It could even use os-prober to find out which partition(s) the OS(es) are on and modify the script accordingly.
