Bug#760992: debian-installer: i18n: doesn't load keyboard layout that was just set

Hello,

I'm not sure whether anyone is reading this since if I understood the
conversation at
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=844611 correctly,
this package is currently already orphaned.

In any case, I revisited this report that I made some years ago and I
can confirm that this happens in current stable too.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download
debian-live-8.8.0-amd64-xfce-desktop.iso
or
debian-live-8.8.0-amd64-lxde-desktop.iso
(other live desktops were not tested)
2. Write it to a USB key with
cp <iso filename> /dev/sdX
sync
(burning to DVD not tested, but I see no reason why this shouldn't be
reproducible there)
3. Boot it, select "Live (amd64)" option at bootloader, which takes us
to the graphical desktop
4. Click the icon on the desktop to launch the installer
5. Select English as installer language
6. Select United States as country
7. Select Hungarian or German as keyboard layout (German only tested in lxde)
8. Wait through network configuration
9. In the text field for hostname, type some characters which reveals
layout hasn't changed from the original US one.

Even when I select German/Hungarian as installation language and
Deutchland/Magyarország as country beforehand, and then set the
keyboard layout to Deutch/magyar, the bug still happens.

The bug does not appear:
if we do not boot to the live system but instead boot to "Install
(amd64)" or "Graphical install" directly.

So this is a bug in the live system (maybe the way the keyboard layout
is set in these desktop environments conflicts with the installer
setting it?), but I am not sure that this is the right package this
bug belongs to (although probably, since people reassigned it from
debian-installer and the debian-live pseudo-package...)

Best regards,
Tamás
