Subject: nn: could not fetch active file

Package: nn
Version: 6.5.0.b3.linux.1.1-01

Sorry, although I have reported this bug twice it still
exists and keeps making my friends unfriendly about Debian.

wazergate!joey:~> nn
could not fetch active file

strace nn
[...]
open("/etc/news/server", O_RDONLY) = 3
fstat(3, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=19, ...}) = 0
mmap(0, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x40007000
read(3, "wazergate.north.de\n", 4096) = 19
[...]
open("/usr/lib/news/active", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
fstat(1, {st_mode=S_IFIFO|0600, st_size=0, ...}) = 0
mmap(0, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x40007000
write(1, "could not fetch active file\n\n", 29could not fetch active file

When will this be fixed?

(on that machine an INN is running and as you can see this machine
is defined as news server.)

Joey
