Package: kmail Version: 4:17.08.3-2 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- kmail, kontact and other applications using Qt's WebEngine crash when using the nouveau Xorg driver and mesa 17.3.1. The output is like this: nouveau: kernel rejected pushbuf: No such file or directory nouveau: ch25: krec 0 pushes 0 bufs 2 relocs 0 nouveau: ch25: buf 00000000 00000002 00000004 00000004 00000000 nouveau: ch25: buf 00000001 00000006 00000004 00000000 00000004 *** KMail got signal 11 (Exiting) Some search suggests that this is actually a well-known nouveau bug, which occurs with multithreaded rendering. Qt appears to have decided to disable GL with nouveau altogether for Qt 5.10: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-41242 but for now, they suggest to set QT_XCB_FORCE_SOFTWARE_OPENGL=1 as a workaround. So until nouveau is fixed, or Qt 5.10 released and packaged, it may be sensible to - document this somewhere, e.g. with apt-listchanges or - try to detect the use of nouveau and automatically set the environment variable, or - use this ticket as documentation Also see - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1376107 - https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91632 --- System information. --- Architecture: Kernel: Linux 4.14.0-2-amd64 Debian Release: buster/sid 500 unstable www.deb-multimedia.org 500 unstable ftp.de.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed =================================================================-+- ================================== akonadi-server (>= 4:17.08~) | 4:17.08.3-2 kdepim-runtime (>= 4:17.08~) | 4:17.08.3-3 libkf5akonadisearch-bin (>= 4:17.08~) | 4:17.08.3-1 libkf5akonadisearch-plugins (>= 4:17.08~) | 4:17.08.3-1 libkf5grantleetheme-plugins (>= 17.08~) | 17.08.3-1 kio | 5.37.0-2 libc6 (>= 2.14) | libgcc1 (>= 1:3.0) | libgpgmepp6 (>= 1.10.0) | libkf5akonadiagentbase5 (>= 15.07.90) | libkf5akonadicontact5 | libkf5akonadicore5 (>= 4:17.08.0) | libkf5akonadimime5 | libkf5akonadisearchdebug5 | libkf5akonadisearchpim5 (>= 16.08.0) | libkf5akonadiwidgets5 (>= 4:17.08.0) | libkf5bookmarks5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5calendarcore5 (>= 15.07.90) | libkf5calendarutils5 | libkf5codecs5 (>= 5.4.0+git20141202.0008+15.04) | libkf5completion5 (>= 4.97.0) | libkf5configcore5 (>= 4.98.0) | libkf5configgui5 (>= 4.97.0) | libkf5configwidgets5 (>= 5.23.0) | libkf5contacts5 (>= 15.12.0) | libkf5coreaddons5 (>= 5.2.0) | libkf5crash5 (>= 5.15.0) | libkf5dbusaddons5 (>= 4.97.0) | libkf5followupreminder5 (>= 4:16.04.0) | libkf5gravatar5 (>= 4:15.12) | libkf5guiaddons5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5i18n5 (>= 4.97.0) | libkf5iconthemes5 (>= 5.0.0) | libkf5identitymanagement5 (>= 17.08.0) | libkf5itemmodels5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5itemviews5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5jobwidgets5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5kcmutils5 (>= 5.2.0+git20141003) | libkf5kiocore5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5kiofilewidgets5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5kiowidgets5 (>= 5.35.0) | libkf5kontactinterface5 | libkf5ksieveui5 | libkf5libkdepim-plugins | libkf5libkdepim5 (>= 16.04) | libkf5libkdepimakonadi5 | libkf5libkleo5 (>= 4:17.08.0) | libkf5mailcommon-plugins | libkf5mailcommon5 (>= 4:17.08.3) | libkf5mailtransport5 | libkf5mailtransportakonadi5 | libkf5messagecomposer5 | libkf5messagecore5 | libkf5messagelist5 | libkf5messageviewer5 | libkf5mime5 (>= 15.12.0) | libkf5mimetreeparser5 | libkf5notifications5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5notifyconfig5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5parts5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5pimcommon-plugins | libkf5pimcommon5 (>= 4:17.08.0) | libkf5pimcommonakonadi5 | libkf5pimtextedit5 (>= 17.08.0) | libkf5sendlater5 (>= 4:16.04.0) | libkf5service-bin | libkf5service5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5sonnetui5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5templateparser5 | libkf5textwidgets5 (>= 5.0.0) | libkf5tnef5 (>= 15.07.90) | libkf5wallet-bin | libkf5wallet5 (>= 4.96.0) | libkf5webengineviewer5 | libkf5widgetsaddons5 (>= 5.4.0+git20141119.0013+15.04) | libkf5windowsystem5 (>= 4.100.0) | libkf5xmlgui5 (>= 4.98.0) | libqgpgme7 (>= 1.10.0) | libqt5core5a (>= 5.9.0~beta) | libqt5dbus5 (>= 5.7.0~) | libqt5gui5 (>= 5.7.0) | libqt5network5 (>= 5.7.0~) | libqt5widgets5 (>= 5.7.0~) | libqt5xml5 (>= 5.7.0~) | libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) | Recommends (Version) | Installed ==================================-+-=========== accountwizard | 4:17.08.3-1 gnupg | 2.2.4-1 kdepim-addons | 17.08.3-1 kdepim-themeeditors | 4:17.08.3-1 mbox-importer | 4:17.08.3-1 pim-data-exporter | 4:17.08.3-1 pim-sieve-editor | 4:17.08.3-1 pinentry-qt | 1.0.0-3 OR pinentry-x11 | Suggests (Version) | Installed ==============================-+-============== clamav | kaddressbook | 4:17.08.3-1 kleopatra | 4:17.08.3-1 procmail | spamassassin | OR bogofilter | OR spambayes (>= 1.0.4-6) | OR bsfilter | OR crm114 | -- Carsten Pfeiffer

I am closing this bug report. Many of these Nvidia only bugs have been fixed in the years since this bug was reported and there was no response from the original submitter that this is still a problem. If anyone is still having this issue feel free to reopen the bug. -- Soren Stoutner soren@stoutner.comAttachment: signature.asc
