As mentioned above; without a debdiff I cannot give a definite response.
That said, given that the alternative is a removal, I would recommend
you to attempt the change.

Until python-sardana is removed from testing. For auto-removal, you can
extend the timer by sending feedback/updates to the RC bug causing the
auto-removal periodically.
Furthermore, we will eventually announce a release date and that will
set a definite deadline on this. I don't have a concrete date yet, so I
cannot yet say when this deadline is.
