Hi release team,

I was discussing with Mattia Rizzolo the open merge requests for
devscripts and which of them are material for the bookworm release. It
would be nice to have
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/devscripts/-/merge_requests/310
("Devscripts::Compression: Switch to new Dpkg::Compression getters") in
bookworm. What's your take on that change? Can we merge it for bookworm
or should we wait until the bookworm release is done?

*Before* we discuss this, can you please handle the version skew we currently have? In other words, can you file an unblock request for what we have in unstable if it needs to migrate, which we probably want as it fixes a grave bug?

Ping. Following the freeze policy I want a revert to the previous version with a targeted fix for the grave bug. The time for wishlist bugfixes in key packages is over.

It's a shame this wasn't picked up. This request has expired because it's now too late for these kind of things. We'll carry the grave bug to bookworm. It can still be fixed via a point release update.

Paul
