RFS xsimd [was Re: Bug#994169: xsimd: debci tests fail on generic i386 (warning sent to stderr?)]

Dear all,
I've committed Drew's suggested change to the xsimd repository on Salsa in order to solve #994169. This version passes autopkgtest in a `sbuild --arch=i386` local environment. If my change looks good to you, could I get a sponsored upload of xsimd?

Cheers,

But it does mean that xsimd is failing debci tests on i386 with the
message
"#warning "No SIMD instructions set detected, using fallback mode."

It's just a warning, not an error. It informs that xsimd will run in
no-op mode.

I gather the warning is being sent to stderr, which debci treats as an
error. In that case the debci test can probably "pass" if
debian/tests/control adds

  Restrictions: allow-stderr
...

I'm raising the severity since this is blocking testing migration
of xsimd.

Please fix this issue in the near future, this is currently blocking
testing migration of a larger numerical library stack transition.

The armhf and ppc64el autopkgtest failures are a side effect of the
FTBFS on these architectures, Paul Gevers from the release team has
added a hint to ignore the autopkgtest failures on armhf and ppc64el
for now.
