Several questions

I don't know if this list is the correct one to ask these questions. If
not, tell me where to.

I have been using DocBook and Stylesheets by Norman Walsh for quite a
long time.
I offer SGML consulting and teaching to companies and I write my
documents using sgmltools.

The thing is I updated my sgml in potato to the docbook 1.4 version in
unstable. And now I find:
    -footnotes go allways to the end of a section, no matter what
I configure.
    -page numbering is strange, because the second chapter restarts page
numbering (only the second one).
    -double side printing doesn't make headings to alternate left and
right.
    -figures are not shown in the document (I use eps format. which were
included in the other version I was using).

Anyone has met these problems too? Perhaps the package is so unstable
that it is unusable?
Should I drop it and go for the one in stable? I wouldn't like it,
because my document is marked with docbook1.4, and I think stable
version keeps only 1.3. Am I wrong?.
