Probably a problem with the graphics driver. What exact graphics card do you have? What happens if you add a boot option to disable the framebuffer for that card. What happens if you use a serial console? Mine is: 0000:01:02.0 0300: 1002:4754 (rev 9a) 0000:01:02.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage I/II 215GT [Mach64 GT] (rev 9a) (I pulled out the Creator 3D as I don't have a monitor or adaptor for it.)
