Hi,

when installing new fonts, there is a problem with
tetex-base:

You need to put a .map file in /etc/texmf/dvips and then
add the file name to /etc/texmf/dvips/updmap to the
variable extra_modules.

Thus adding and removing can not be done in a 
trivial and automated way.

I'd suggest to change the way to set extra_modules,
e.g. set it to file names of .map files found in a
subdirectory. This allows to add and remove font
packages easily.
