No Conflict with Potato (Was: Re: Problems upgrading tetex)

I think I see what's happening here.

tetex-base has the following dependencies:

Version: 1.0.2+20011202-2
Depends: texinfo (>= 4.0b-1)
Pre-Depends: dpkg (>=1.6.8)
Suggests: tetex-extra, perl-tk
Conflicts: texidoc, bibtex, texpsfnt, mfbasfnt, xdvik, mfnfss,
           babel, texlib, mflib, textfm, kpathsea, latex2e-doc,
           ltxgraph, csplain, cslatex, cstexfonts,
	   tetex-bin (<< 0.9.990310-1), xbase (<< 3.3.2.3a-2),
	   tetex-nonfree (<< 1.0.2+20000804-2)

But the most recent tetex-* packages in potato are

tetex-base   1.0-10
tetex-bin    1.0.6-7
tetex-doc    1.0-10
tetex-extra  1.0-10
tetex-lib    1.0.6-7
(etcetera)

So installing a new tetex-base doesn't cause any of the other
packages to be updated. Given that we've moved things around and
changed the way they work, I'm not surprised that things break for
some people. We should probably fix the dependencies.

On the other hand, updating a fresh potato install by running
``apt-get install tetex-base'' worked fine for me, suggesting that
the people with problems have something else happening. (In
Paul's case, he was using the Dutch hyphenation files, but he may
have had some other things happening, as well.)
