Bug#180665: more info

Out of curiosity, I tried builds this morning on one of my ia64 systems
running latest unstable, with the .18-1 and .16-1 versions of binutils, just
to see if it made any difference. Both times, the build died at the same
point as in this bug report, but the error has changed. Now, it complains of
a seg fault instead of an illegal instruction:

  ./tangleboot ./tangle.web ./tangle.ch
  make[3]: *** [tangle.p] Segmentation fault
  make[3]: *** Deleting file `tangle.p'

I see an "interesting" warning in the compilation of texk/web2c/lib/eofeoln.c,
but I don't know if it's directly related. The warning appears with both
versions of binutils:

  gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I../.. -I.. -I./.. -g -O2 -c eofeoln.c
  /tmp/cc3M0Ai6.s: Assembler messages:
/tmp/cc3M0Ai6.s:269: Warning: Use of 'mov' may violate WAW dependency
      'GR%, % in 1 - 127' (impliedf), specific resource number is 14
/tmp/cc3M0Ai6.s:268: Warning: This is the location of the conflicting usage
