I tried with current ghc6 in Debian/sid and a local packages of xmltex
which also ships passivetex.

I could generate a docbook-cheat-sheet.fo but the compilation to pdf
using pdfxmltex didn't work as it gave a lot of errors.l.1 ...

Is this supposed to work?

Could you *ever* generate a pdf of that with pdfxmltex?

If you want please use
	deb(-src) http://people.debian.org/~preining/TeX/ xmltex/
in your sources.list, and install
	xmltex 1.9.debian.1-1~1
which also ships passivetex files.
